Herbal Certification Course Online – Botany & Botanical Nomenclature

$50This class, offered by nurse and herbalist Ellen Kamhi, RN, is designed to offer flexibility for beginning or advanced herbal students. Use this series of classes to ignite your inspiration towards better health with practical plant-based tools. Feel free to attend any one class on an individual basis, or all four of the classes in the series. Now offered ONLINE!
Join nurse and herbalist Ellen Kamhi for an empowering and enriching journey into basic herbal medicine. Attend any one of the four workshops as a drop-in course, or attend the entire series for a discount. Practitioners wishing to receive Continuing Education Units must attend the full series, pay the CEU processing fee, and complete all assignments.
This class meets for four Saturdays over a four month period, from 9:30-11 am. The class will be live with the other participants and the instructor in real time. It will be interactive with question and answer sessions.
You will receive the Call-in number for the class at the time of registration, along with links to Power Points and other learning tools that we will use as instructional materials during class. If you miss a class, you can make it up anytime before the end of the course, by calling into the recording of the class. Assignments can be emailed to instructor. Capstone Herbal Preparation Project will need to be ‘snail mailed’ to instructor. All attendees who complete the full series and submit all assignments will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Florida School of Holistic Living.

Class 2—Botany & Botanical Nomenclature Saturday September 12
Lecture covers the importance of Latin names when communicating with other herbalists, the Doctrine of Signatures, and Shamanic health rituals.

Lecture covers essential vocabulary, such as extracts, tinctures, capsules, infusions, and decoctions, as well as the safety and efficacy of herbal medicines.
Class 3—Using Herbs for Yourself and Your Family (click here) Saturday October 10
Lecture covers common herbal “first aids” for colds and flu, ear infections, stomach upsets, and other mild heath issues.
Class 4—Feeling the Consciousness of Plants (click here) Saturday November 14
Lecture covers how to integrate plants into your life, soul, and medicine, and how to decide which remedy is the “right” one. Learn simple plant dowsing techniques and consider herb-drug interactions.

CEU Certificates
Recommended for all interested individuals, as well as natural health professionals. Participants will receive a certificate indicating level of course work and hours of study completed.
To receive CEU’s participants must:
+ Attend all four classes
+ Purchase course text book, The Natural Medicine Chest, by Ellen Kamhi, PhD RN and Eugene Zampieron, ND (available online, copies will be available for purchase at first class)
+ Complete homework assignments
+ Pay an additional $15 CEU fee
This series offers 18 CEUs for Florida Licensed Massage Therapists, Dietitians, and Nutrition Counselors.
Missed classes can be made up by reviewing recorded classes prior to the end of the course.
